God rocks my socks off!!

I had been praying for ten students from Edinburgh to come along to Project PETE. I prayed for a number way too small because there were about 24 students, 10 people from the summer project and five of our staff. That is a total of 39 people!! That is so amazing. The term is over and students could be at home.
Tha meant that 39 people went out and shared their faith today!! We broke up into two groups and went to two different campuses. It was awesome. Then God allowed me to share with the guy who I have been visiting ofen to make copies!! How amazing is that!!

I do have to say I am really tired. It is only day number one. I know with God's strength I can make it through. We all are already tired. Please keep us in our prayers.

Summer Project comes tomorrow!!

I noticed on Monday I was getting a really bad attitude. Next week we are running Project PETE- Post Exam Training and Evangelism. Starting on Monday it seemed like there was so much work to do. I really wanted this thing to go well. I tend to get too detail orientated and things like that. I stopped and realized what I was doing. It isn't about how good I can make this thing, it is about how good God is!

I stopped, prayed and changed my attitude, Every since then things have been so much better. I had been praying for 10 students to sign up, there are 15 signed up for the whole week and another 5 signed up to come along for at least one day.

You may be asking what Project PETE is. It is a week of training and time using that training. Summer Project will be joining students from here. There are a total of 10 training sessions. I have people comingin from other organizations and people on our team leading the sessions.

For added fun I am having the project come to church with me and then having a student lunch after church at my flat. There will probably be like 30 people here for lunch (yikes!). Then after the evening service summer project is leading the student group. Monday is an orientation day from project and then PETE is Tue-Thur.

That is what has been going on. I could use prayers that it all goes well. That the focus stays on God. I do want this to be a success, but one that God pulls off. Just prayers for everyone as it is a very busy week also.

After all that we have a de-brief week and then a week to pack and do last things (basically a week off). Then we go to a 4 day conference and then back to the States. Where did the year go?

Fun, Fun, Fun!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The other day I had some friends over for cards and a little bit of a going away party. We ad so much fun. The first lesson I learned was not to use lemon bars as a birthday cake. Powdered sugar and blowing out candles, very funny!!

We then played the German Game, The Great Dalmuti. There are positions in the game called peons. We decided they had to wear hats!! It was such a fun night. As you can see what have a disco ball!

The Beach

Last night we had a BBQ at a somewhat nearby beach. It was for Navigators. After some vegitarian food (ok only myself and maybe one other person enjoyed that everyone else had real meat). Some of the guys said they wanted to play some American Football. I thought to myself, I am probably just about as good at this sport as any of these British blokes. They have all played football and have no idea how to play the version with the weird brown ball.

That was so the case. I tried to tell them the rules, but they just didn't get it. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Also, very frustrating. We played for a little while and then they went and played their more comfortable verson of the game. I keep laughing to myself when I think of it.

It was really nice at the beach. We had a big bonfire and it wasn't too cold and there was actually no rain while were were out there. It would be so great to go some day when there was actual nice weather.

In other news, my laptop is out of comission until I am back to the States. My motherboard is dead or dying and they don't do any warrenty services outside of the States. It seems like all I have had are computer issues this year. It is the biggest paper weight I have ever had.

All afternoon there has been a street fair right outside our flat. It has been fun to listen to and watch from our windows, but I think it is about time to go check it out.

Clumsiness

Ok, so I can be a clutz. I tripped over the cord to my laptop and it fell to the hardwood floors in my bedroom. The results were yet another broken power cord. That means I am on number 5. You didn't read that wrong. So annoying.

Mice update, for Tammy. It seems as thought the mice are becoming more and more bold. They are coming out earlier in the day and we see more of them. Sometimes it feels like they are everywhere. We are bringing it on. It is a war and we plan on being the winners.

Ok, so maybe not the most interesting things going on ever but that is my update.

Well, in addition to the announcement that I will be in FRESNO next year, last week was a really great one.

Our Outreach in the Meadows could not have gone better. There was a lot of involvement with students and from other organizations. We didn't get in an trouble and the weather was beautiful!!! Sunshine all around.

We were able to engage in some excellent conversations. We all felt God's hand in the whole thing. People we were talking to thought it was a good way to talk about spiritual things. The local ministry here wants to do it again!! Thanks for prayers!!

This week there seems to be enough going on, while at the same time things are really winding down. Students are starting to disappear. There are still a lot of things to wrap up though and summer project will be coming in just two weeks!

I have booked my flight to go back. I will be getting into So. Cali June 23rd and into Bakersfield sometime after July 1st. There are so many things I want to do this summer, but I have a limited amount of time. The summer is for support raising.

Does anybody know of a place to live in Fresno? Or a car for a good price??

My prayer requests:
To finish the year strong
Lots of students sign up for Project Pete

(BTW the recover post function is awesome, I just made this go away and it brought it back!!)

Ok, I have a major announcement to make. I have decided where I am going next year..............

FRESNO

Yes, you read that correctly, I will be working with Campus Crusade for Christ at Fresno State. I will be interning there working with the student ministry. I am really excited!!

This week has been an amazing week. Our outreach went well all week. Students got involved and the boards really helped lead to spiritual conversations. It was so exciting so see God work this week. What is even better was we got to do an “American” type outreach and people received it really well. When we were talking to people (non-Christians) they really liked being able to express their opinions. People who were helping us out also though it was a good idea! SO fun!!

This has been a really long week, but an amazing week. I also can't believe that in two weeks summer project will be here then two weeks after that we will be going to a conference and then I will be back in the states. Wow, time really flies.

This week

This week we have a lot going on and we could use prayers.

I am feeling better, but not back up to 100%. Continued prayer for health would be appreciated.

We are doing an outreach in the Meadows to have spiritual conversations and get people thinking. Pray for good conversations and good weather. With good weather means there are people in the Meadows. We will be giving out soda (Irn Bru, a very Scottish drink) and having boards with a question on them for each day. The questions are: "What Makes you angry about God" "IS Jesus Relevant Today" and "What makes life worth living?"

We are praying that there would be good student involvement.

I am also meeting up with the chaplain at one ofa the universities. This is where summer project is going to spend a week and a half doing evangelism and they have said that they cannot give their blessing in us doing that. Pray that all would work out well.

I also have normal meetings and things.

Friday is our last New Testement Survey Class. With the last class comes a paper. I haven't started it. It is on diversity and unity in the Church. Basically, what would the church of Jesus look like? Seems easy, but I haven't done much, and what research I had done is gone.

My laptop is beeing a little silly. I re-formatted but can't get on the Internet. Very frustrating.

(ok, i wrote this really quickly, please excuse any errors)

When I say I'm a Christian...

~*~By Maya Angelou~*~

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

Achooooooooooooooo

Yeah, that is how I am still feeling. Earlier I thought maybe I was feeling better. That lead me to not taking a nap today. I didn't go out with the team to do the Action Group cause I thought that sneezing and sniffling the whole times wasn't that attractive.

I then got a call from a student asking if we could meet up to go over some summer project support raising things. I was fine with that. It was my night to cook, so I started that. Now it is almost 9 (and still light outside) and I am knackered. The amount of light outside makes it seem like it is only about 7ish. This is going to take some getting use to, not that I am complaining.

Next week we are doing a big outreach and I really need to be better. I also said I would make student lunch on Sunday, I also said I would cook for our Bible Study on Monday night. Basically I need to be better on Saturday. I need to take care of this cold so I can be better for the rest of the term. If this lingers forever it will make this one hard term.

I love my flat and flatmates. We basically rock. We just had the best dinner and hang out time. Tonight we are renting a Harrison Ford movie. I think we have thing for him. We already rented the Indiana Jones movies. Good times. I am going to miss living here and each one of them. This flat is so much fun. I can hear them in the other room playing the N64, (if you ask me that in itself is a great ministry tool :)

I love that we pray together, we have tried to worship together. We all cook and eat together. This flat has been a blessing this year. I am going to put a jumper on and go join them.

ps- I have been doing pretty well with my eating, but sometimes it can be so hard. There are always sweets around and the girls eat so much sweet stuff. I have been really bad and ate like a grand total of 3 M&Ms. I can do it, I can do it! God is sweeter and anything I can out in my mouth. I will also get back to exercising as soon as my cold is over.

It’s raining, its pouring,
The old man is snoring;
He went to bed,
And bumped his head,
And couldn’t get up in the morning.

I have a bad cold and am bored.

Something cool about Scotland in the spring, the sun comes up at about 5:30 am and doesn't set until about 9pm. It is so weird to look outside and to have the sun be up still. It doesn't seem as late as it is. From what I have heard eventually the sun will be out until about 11 pm. Hopefully we will be some nice weather to go along with the prolonged sun shining (ok, so just cause the sun hasn't set doesn't mean it is still shining). I hope you are enjoying the weather that you have where you are. TA!
