More about my trip
.
Warning, read this before proceeding. Okay, this is long, but at the end there is a nutshell version if you need to read the condensed version and come back later (and I expect you to come back, I will haunt you down)

It all started REALLY early on Friday. Well, actually Thursday afternoon when we drove to Bakersfield and met a friend. We were waiting for another friend, so we hit the mall. We didn’t leave Bako until 9, so we weren’t in Irvine until 11 or so. Didn’t get to bed until after 1 and was awake at 4am!! We left for the airport at 5 and were in the air at 6:45am.

I got the privilege to go to the south and start a new chapter of Alpha Delta Chi (ADX). It was such an amazing weekend. I went with two girls from my chapter. We were then joined by six of the girls from the chapter in Atlanta. We drove from Atlanta to Tuscaloosa. I rode in the car with three of the Alabama girls and had a blast with them. I could tell right away that they were amazing women of God and would be an asset to the sorority. We were able to talk like we had known each other forever.

Friday night we had a big sleep over with new friends. We stayed up talking and enjoying each other’s company. There was a lot of laughing and silliness.

On Saturday we got to know the new girls individually and let them know more about ADX. We then got a tour of the Alabama campus. I learned a few new things. How big football is in the South. What a big hero their former coach, Paul B. Bryant is and how big the Greek life is on their campus. These girls really have an opportunity on their campus. There are about 20 HUGE sorority houses on campus. They are like mansions.

We were then able to initiate six new girls into Alpha Delta Chi. Being the founding class we named them the Tiny Taus. They are all named after little bugs. We gave them a bug of their name to carry with them and they were so excited about it. They are such cute girls.

We had another big sleep over on Saturday night. This night went really crazy. We went driving around Tuscaloosa and saw all the “sights”. Ok, there isn’t a lot to do there. There is a cool place on their campus that if you stand in a circle you can here your voice echo, it was cool. Me being me, I had to see what a belch would sound like echoing. LOL J

Of course we made the girls eat goldfish and all those other crazy things. You know, all the normal sorority things.

We had another big sleep over. I stayed up half the night sitting in the kitchen talking with one of my new friends. We had never met each other before, but it was like we had been friends forever. We were able to have a really great talk. It is amazing how you can talk forever about nothing and everything at the same time.

We had to say goodbye to our girls from Atlanta on Sunday morning. It was a sad goodbye. We all had so much fun together. L. We then went to a real Southern Baptist Church. It was good. Now we had to leave our Bama friends. SO hard to meet everyone and then have to leave them.

We had a long drive back to Atlanta (ok, 3 hours isn’t very long, but that was just the first leg of the trip). We were a bit rushed, but we made it. We then had a long flight on a very crowded and HOT airplane. I had never flown so far on such a small plane. We then made it to Phoenix. We never ate dinner and everything in the airport was closed, no bueno. On to our last flight from Phoenix to Ontario. From Ontario to Irvine.

For some odd reason I wasn’t ready for bed. I had many an adventure to tell, and a host who also wasn’t very tired. I ended up staying up until 2 ish, which would be 4 on Bama time. I had been up since 5 in Alabama.

In a Nut shell:
This weekend we were in 4 different airports, 3 different states and 4 different time zones. Too bad we didn’t take a train, because then I would have been on a plane, train and automobile. I made 12 new friends from 2 states. Long talks, early mornings and late nights, goldfish. God is Good!! Thanks for a great weekend.
