As was witnessed from my post about ice skating I can be a bit of a klutz. So what do I go and do? I signed up for a Ski Retreat for Crusade staff. What was I thinking? I have never been skiing before. I want to live after skiing. Look down a few posts at what happened during a couple hours of skating. Just think of the possibilities that can happen from a whole day of skiing. I have heard horror stories of people and lifts. I am going to hurl myself down the side of a mountain. I have heard that snow is soft, but come one?????!!!!!
Any advice? Am I a complete loon? how many people have come back with torn ACLs?
Ok, breathe Carrie. You will be ok. I still have a couple weeks until I go. No worries, I will be sure to post pics after the big weekend.
On another note, I think I look funny in this picture
...what do you think?

It's a cute pic...
And as for skiing, I have one word for you: "SNOWPLOW"
(You can ask me what it is later and I'll demonstrate for you...you can't fall if you're doing it...well, maybe YOU can! ;-))
the pic looks fine and you, my dear, look like you've lost weight!
Definitly take a class if you can, and get as many pointers as possible. Also, going slow at first is always a good thing...it took me a half of a day to learn to snowboard and I fell many times:) If you need an gloves or snow gear, perhaps you can try my stuff on, with you weight loss you never know :) As for the pic...is that your morning teara or you evening one? HEHE! You look cute in the picture:)
Snoopy
I agree with Jerelyn, learn to snow plow (it will be your best friend) and also learn to make big turns, kinda snaking across the slope... maybe consider not using poles at first, you might find it easier and one less thing to have to worry about. Make sure to put sunscreen on, and wear either goggles or sunglasses, sun refects off of snow much more than you will be use to... protect your eyes and your skin.
skiing, in my case, can be very dangerous...;) but it is fun to try at least!! the pic is supercute.
i think you look GORGEOUS in the picture!!! And unfortunately, I can't give you any advice for skiing other than to hold on!!!! I have never been skiing, although I'd love to go sometime.
