Post-it Notes

This weekend post-it notes really gave me a powerful message and were a sign of how God was working.

I was away over the weekend at the National Student Conference here in the UK. The first Post-it note story was seeing them on the front doors of flats in Selly Oak. On Saturday all the attendees (about 200 people) went door to door sharing the Gospel on about three really long streets in the student area of Birmingham.

As we walked down the street knocking on doors wanting to talk to those behind them we saw little Post-its on doors. The Post-its meant that someone had spoken to someone at that flat. We had a system of putting the small piece of paper on the door to know if we should go to a flat. The note didn’t necessarily mean that the person had heard the Gospel, but it meant we had at least given them the opportunity to hear the Good News.

During my time I was able to talk to four different students who were so receptive to what I had to say. It was so amazing to see people who wanted to hear what I had to say. The people wanted to hear about Jesus and all said that they felt that they would be able to some day say the prayer and mean it. God had used me to get people that much closer to knowing Him.

Sometimes I get guilty of really wanting to see immediate results. The important part isn’t if the person I talk to receives Christ. What is important is that I let God use me to present the Gospel. I had done my part, planted seeds—the rest is God’s job.

As I left the last girl’s flat and walked back to our bus there were Post-it notes on so many of the doors on that street. God had been there, even if those doors were slammed in our faces.

You will have to wait for my next Post-it story….to be continued :)

HOW AWESOME! I can just see you walking down this street and looking at all these doors with little yellow post it notes on them! What a wonderful picture in my head! I am just wondering, you didn't say if anything was written on these notes? If not, and you say that quite possibly the door was slammed in your face, write a bible verse on there before you post it on the door? Have one verse for those who listened to you, something about Jesus loving them, being able to turn to him in times of trouble, ect. And then, on those who did not want to listen, put a verse on there that might spark their interest and want to look it up or ask questions?! It's just a thought. Again, what an awesome picture you have placed in my head! I'm so glad you are over there spreading the Good Word! Keep up the Great work!

Some people wrote things on the notes like, Agape has been here, not interested or other little notes. Mostly they were blank. We also didn't want the people behind the doors to feel uncomfortable by the note. It was a good idea to have them though, so we weren't all going to the same doors. :)
